Our occasional series in which we ask our musical chums to share the contents of their soul, well OK, their I-pod, returns.  This time around the fabulous Sarah aka The Good Natured reveals exactly what’s been tickling her ear drums of late.  She’s also very kindly given us a free download (see above) to give away, which is utterly marvellous.

CrystallisedThe XX

The Good Natured: “I saw The XX play live at Latitude Festival this year, and I was completely blown away. Crystalised is a true gem.”

Banquet– Bloc Party

Let’s Make Love and Listen to Death From Above– CSS

The Good Natured: This song reminds me of being 15 year old ‘new-raver’ and going to the NME Shockwaves Tour with The Klaxons, CSS and New Young Pony Club. I sort of miss glowsticks and wearing hideously bright clothing.

Christine– Siouxsie and the Banshees

Believe Your Own Hype Always–Elle Milano

The Good Natured: I saw Elle Milano supporting The Horrors a while ago and I instantly fell in love with them. The band had an edgy angular sound with sharp rhythms and screamed vocals- such a shame they split up. I loved their cynicism of pretentious clichés found in student culture and the British ‘indie’ scene.

Touch The Sky– Kanye West

When I Grow Up– Fever Ray

The Good Natured: I love Fever Ray. This has to be one of my favourite songs.

Baptism– Crystal Castles

The Good Natured:Alice Glass is brilliant. Crystal Castles are another band I saw at Latitude and she is a true front woman! Baptism is a great song.”

HeartbeatsJose Gonzalez

The Good Natured: “Jose Gonzalez’s cover of The Knife’s Heartbeats is absolutely stunning. It’s also one of the first songs I learnt to play on guitar!”

Neighbourhood #1 Tunnels– Arcade Fire

Into Dust– Mazzy Star

The Good Natured: “I first discovered this song in an episode of the O.C and I had to look it up because it was so heart-wrenchingly beautiful. “

Vicious– Lou Reed

John Gacy Wayne JrSufjan Stevens

The Good Natured: “Sufjan Stevens manages to sing about a 1970’s Chicago-based serial killer and make it into one of the most haunting songs of all time.”

Heartbreaker- MSTRKRFT ft John Legend

The Good Natured: “Fantastic song and I love the video too.”

Human After AllDaft Punk

Once in a Lifetime– Talking Heads

The Good Natured: “What can I say? Classic. ‘You may tell yourself, this is not my beautiful wife!’”

Ageing Had Never Been His Friend– Love Is All

The Good Natured: “Infectious melodic post-punk at it’s very best! I love Josephine Olausson’s almost kiddie-like yelp.”

Disintegration– The Cure

Mad World– Tears for Fears

The Good Natured: “Mad World is one of my favourite songs ever written. I also love the cover by Gary Jules and Michael Andrews from Donnie Darko soundtrack. Incredible.”
